What is it and what is it used?

What IS Mykoderm® Mouth Gel and what is it used?
Mykoderm® Mouth Gel is an antifungal (used to treat fungal infections).
Mykoderm® oral gel is used
to treat yeast infections of the mouth (oral thrush).

What you need to consider before using it?

Mykoderm® Oral Gel should not be used
if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to miconazole or any of the excipients of Mykoderm® Mouth Gel;
if you suffer from liver disease;
if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • anticoagulant medicine taken by mouth (oral anticoagulants, eg warfarin)
  • certain drugs for allergies (terfenadine and mizolastine)
  • Cisapride, a drug for the treatment of disturbed motions in the gastrointestinal tract,
  • certain sleeping or sedative (triazolam, midazolam oral)
  • certain medicines for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias (quinidine and dofetilide)
  • Pimozide, a medicine for psychotic disorders,
  • certain medicines to lower cholesterol such as simvastatin or lovastatin.

Mykoderm® Oral Gel should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy.Take special care when applying Mykoderm® mouth gel is required on the first appearance the disease; if you have or your child during the past 12 months, several such fungal infections have occurred;. when the disease worsens or after 5 days no improvement please If any of these 3 points apply to you, consult your doctor. When using Mykoderm® mouth gel with other drugs: The effect of the following medicines or preparations groups can with simultaneous treatment with Mykoderm® mouth gel are affected: medicines that are broken down over a certain liver enzyme system (cytochrome P-450), can be amplified in their effect and their possible side effects. This applies to all in the "Mykoderm® Oral Gel should not be used" medicines listed and also the substances listed below. Their dose should be reduced by concomitant use of miconazole optionally (but only after consultation with the doctor!): Certain medicines for AIDS (HIV-protease inhibitors), such as saquinavir; medicines to treat "cancer" (cytostatics) as Vinca alkaloids, busulphan and docetaxel; certain drugs for high blood pressure, such as dihydropyridines and possibly verapamil; medicine used to reduce immune response (immunosuppressants), such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus (rapamycin); tablets against high blood sugar levels (oral agents); certain medicines to treat of convulsions (antiepileptic), such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, alfentanil, a strong painkiller; Sildenafil, a drug used to treat male impotence, certain sleeping or sedative such as alprazolam, midazolam IV, buspirone, brotizolam; certain drugs used to treat tuberculosis, as rifabutin,methylprednisolone, drugs for inflammation, trimetrexate, a drug against a particular form of pneumonia; ebastine, a medicine against allergies; reboxetine, a drug used to treat depression;. Tobramycin, an antibiotic combinations with systemically applied medicines to treat fungal infections (systemic antifungals) should be avoided since it may lead to an increase in side effects or a mutual inhibition of the action (Polyenantimykotika, eg amphotericin B). Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines / are taking or have recently taken / have applied, even if it is obtained without a prescription. Pregnancy Mykoderm® Oral Gel should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy. From the 4th month of pregnancy the drug should be used only on the express instructions of the physician. Lactation: It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.Mykoderm® Oral Gel should not be used during lactation unless instructed by the doctor. Driving and using machines: There are no special precautions required.
